My name is Christy Whisenhunt. It is such a rewarding career experience and opportunity to be a part of the literacy team at DeQueen Mena Education Services Cooperative. As a K-12 Literacy Specialist and Dyslexia Specialist, I am afforded the opportunity to work with some of the most knowledgeable educators across the state to provide ongoing support to teachers and administrators which ultimately affects our students’ success in a positive way.
I began my educational journey in 1995. I have a strong background in early childhood education, received a Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary Studies in Reading as well as a Master’s Degree in Library Media. My teaching experience includes first grade, third grade, eighth grade creative writing and kindergarten through sixth grade library. I also served as District Federal Programs Coordinator and District School Improvement Specialist.
My wonderful husband and I have been married for 24 years. We have been blessed with two amazing children and two of the most precious grandsons, Cale and Bennett. They are truly the light of this CiCi’s life and bring so much joy to our family. Away from work, I enjoy spending time with family, going to sporting events, watching our son coach, landscaping, decorating and shopping.
