DeQueen-Mena Education Service Cooperative’s (DMESC) Instructional Technology Coordinator, Tyra Hobson, spoke to the University of Arkansas Community College’s EDU223 Instructional Technology class on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
Hobson shared with these future teachers the resources available through DMESC, including the professional development opportunities. She gave the students links to several sites that they may use as they complete their programs of study as well as use in their future classrooms.
“Mrs. Hobson showed us how to use different technology in our classrooms,” said Macie Johnson, a student in the Associate of Arts program of study at UARM. “It was also encouraging to know that the Coop offers a Novice Teacher Mentoring Program.” Johnson went on to say, “On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being high, I would definitely rate her presentation a 5. I learned multiple things that I will use when I become a teacher or even while I am in school. My favorite part was learning about the apps and add- ons. I didn’t know those even existed!”
As a part of her presentation, Hobson shared many Google and other digital learning resources that teachers can use for instruction and classroom management.
